Fraud Awareness – Be mindful when speaking to persons imitating officials |
||
|
Dear West Putney residents,
Recently we have had a string of reports and incidents relating to fraud, where individuals have approached victims whilst posing as traffic wardens, stating that the victim’s were due to pay a fine for various reasons and so called “offences”.
The police are investigating the matters and West Putney SNT are doing patrols around the busy areas to hopefully prevent the crime from happening and to warn potential members of the public of the fraud. Please be mindful when approaching a parking ticket machine or an ATM, and do not listen to anyone claiming to be a ticket warden or bank official.
If you do happen to be approached by such individuals, refuse to insert your bank card into a parking meter or give out any personal information as these could be used to scam you out of your financial possessions.
If you would like to report a crime call 101, in an emergency always call 999. If you would like to report online, click on this link: https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report
Kind regards,
West Putney Safer Neighbourhoods Team | ||
